The preferred interface for PSI's VPN is via Pulse Secure (previously Junos Pulse under Juniper Networks) , client software that is available for Windows, Mac OSX and iPad\iPhone. Network Connect is available for some older Windows, OSX and Linux systems.
Alternatively, one can use the browser\Java based installation method at http://sslvpn.psi.edu and following the installation instructions.  However, this method is not reliable and not recommended for security reasons.

NOTE:   Before installing any new software on any platform, it is advisable to first install any pending updates\patches and restart the system.
Desktop\Laptop clients can be downloaded from the VPN folder in the PSI Files workspace on Oort (our cloud storage system):

Log in to oort.psi.edu with your domain credentials.

Navigate to PSI Files folder, then to VPN Clients folder.

See Windows Instructions below to locate and download your particular file.

Or use this link below:

Linux (Redhat\CentOS and Debian\Ubuntu):

Pulse Secure and Network Connect client RPMs are available at the link above as well as a Quick Start Guide in PDF format. Another tested alternative for newer Linux distributions is OpenConnect (http://www.infradead.org/openconnect/platforms.html). A special switch is required for use with our VPN (http://www.infradead.org/openconnect/juniper.html).

Windows Instructions:

The following instructions apply to Pulse Secure, Network Connect is similar.

The following downloadable files are listed. Choose the one according to your system architecture:

Note: The FIPS client is required for specific security installations (JPL, NASA). Users connecting to such sites and PSI require to download the file with "fips" word on it. If connecting to PSI site only use the files without such "fips" word.

Upon downloading the selected file, open it and launch the install program and follow installation instructions.

Once installed, launch the application (it will live in your System Tray).  You will see "No Connections" the first time. Click on the "+" icon in the Connections title bar to Add a connection entry you may name it anything you like, but be sure the Server URL is correct.
We use two server URLs:
- sslvpn.psi.edu is for general use to connect to office desktops, the cluster and servers.
- sslvpn2.psi.edu is used for the timesheet system and licensing server.

Click on Add so the entry will be saved for connecting later.

From the Connections list, click the Connect button and you will be prompted to select a Realm.  PSIUsers will work for most everyone (Guests must be set up for special use so you will know if that's you).

Enter your PSI username (without the @psi.edu part) and password to connect.  You may leave the client running and disconnect when you're finished, or just exit the client program.

After the client program is installed on your local machine you do not need to install it again. Updates to the Pulse Secure client should happen automatically, but the latest stable client can also be found on Oort.
